Summer Youth Programs

Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

As you may know, we had to suspend the Summer Youth Employment Program in April. We have spent this time creating an engaging virtual program that offers opportunities to learn new skills, explore potential careers, and earn money this summer, and we’re happy to announce the launch of SYEP Summer Bridge 2020.

SYEP Bridge will give you a unique opportunity to explore your interests and discover new ones through:

  • Career Exploration: Flex your research skills and discover new career possibilities.

  • Skill-Building Activities: Get help with your resume, cover letters, and interview skills. Learn essential job readiness skills and workplace etiquette.

  • Connections to Professionals: Build your network through mentoring, career panels, social media workshops, and more.

  • Community Building: Our democracy needs your voice. Learn valuable skills to become an active citizen at work and in your community.

  • Earn Money: Get paid to participate! Youth between the ages of 14–15 and 16–21 will receive stipends of $700 and $1,000, respectively, for their participation.

To be eligible to participate in the program, you must be between the ages of 14 and 24 and a NYC resident who is legally allowed to work in the U.S.

YouthBuild

YouthBuild is a global pre-apprenticeship program that helps at-risk youth from ages 17–24 earn their high school equivalency diploma and develop the skills and knowledge to obtain industry-recognized job credentials, apprenticeships, and employment while gaining first-hand experience with teamwork and leadership. The SoBro Transformation Academy extends YouthBuild as a full-time comprehensive education, workforce, and leadership development program for young adults ages 17–24 who have not completed high school. The Transformation Academy provides a community safe space and access to the resources necessary to transform lives.
