Summer Youth Applications Available
Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) applications are available on the Department of Youth & Community Development(DYCD) website for downloading and submission. Don't forget to choose SoBRO as the provider!
There are a couple changes of note for this summer: (1) Ages 14-24 are eligible to apply (2) Applicants who meet the qualifications, listed below will not have to participate in the application lottery:
- between the ages of 14-21;
- a New York City resident;
- out of school
- have a barrier to completing an educational program or to obtaining and keeping employment; and
- a low-income individual as defined by the Workforce Investment Act.
This includes any youth who:
- receives, or is a member of a family that receives cash payments through an income-based public assistance program [such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Safety Net, Refugee Assistance, Supplemental Security Income];
- is a member of a household that receives food stamps;
- is homeless;
- is a foster child;
- is a young adult with a disability whose own income meets the income eligibility requirements even if their family’s income does not.
Youth who are not in school, not working, or both are STRONGLY encouraged to apply Please note that the deadline for applications is FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2009.
