SoBRO Offers Entrepreneurial Training to Low Income Bronx Residents

January 11, 2010

In October 2009, the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) awarded SoBRO a grant as part of its "Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs" (PRIME) funding opportunity.

The program will offer micro-entrepreneurial assistance to 36 individuals over the course of its 1 year duration. The program differs from SoBRO's current Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) in that it will specifically target “Low and Very Low-Income” Individuals residing in public New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments interested in starting or who already own a business.

Through personalized case management, technical assistance, and a proven EAP curriculum, the program will help aspiring and existing micro-entrepreneurs overcome the significant hurdles to success and self-sufficiency that face this underserved population.

The first cycle of courses will end January 27, 2009. Click here to download an application for this or later cycles. Contact SoBRO at 718.292.3113 or info@sobro.org for more information on SBA PRIME eligibility, schedules, and more.
