Envision a Drug Free South Bronx
The "Envision a Drug Free South Bronx" mural, commissioned as a part of SoBRO's Drug Free Communities initiative, now adorns a wall across from the SoBRO Center.
Drug Free Communities (DFC) is a federal anti-drug program that supports community coalitions that mobilize their communities to prevent youth alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse.
The mural responds to DFC's environmental strategies. Neighborhoods that are dilapidated, blighted and lack civic pride are far more prone to the circumstances that breed drugs and violence. By beautifying our neighborhood, even one wall at a time, we hope to create a pride of place that can inspire the entire community to help us in building a better Bronx.
The artist for the project was Misha Tyutyunik, a graduate from Pratt Institute and specializes in illustration and graphic design. If you would like to see more of his artwork please visit www.myspace.com/misha_t.

If you want to come see the ways that the Bronx keeps getting better, the mural is in the parking lot adjacent to SoBRO headquarters:
